Choose a robust, round decorative bulb with smoky glass that emits an ember-like glow when you flip the light switch. Thats a letdown but not a showstopper since that wasnt an intended feature (given it requires the App it probably should have something that says such). It can be turned off if you don't want them drawing energy while off. While the kids may appreciate them as a nightlight, LED lighting strips placed along the floor are also practical.
